It feels like this month is flying by so quickly. It always feels hectic around the holidays, but this year seems more so than usual. Every year we get a real tree for our living room and decorate it with ornaments collected over the years. Well, I was startled awake one morning with a loud crash in the living room. When I went to investigate, I found our beautiful 9-foot tree sprawled on the floor and the dogs happily running around it with their “new” sticks. I yelled for Jacob to come assist, and we got the tree back up. Needless to say, we now have a box full of scattered ornaments, but I decided to not stress myself out about re-decorating the entire tree.
I know it is the season of giving, but while we are focused on giving to others and helping our fellow man, we need to still prioritize taking care of ourselves. Just like not re-decorating my tree, sometimes you have to make the decision that brings you peace and not necessarily what is expected. As healthcare providers, you all tend to give your very best to our patients, and for that I am extremely grateful. But please make sure that you are carving out time for yourself. My wish for you this holiday season is time to enjoy the moments with family and friends and time to relax and recharge.
