Amy's Reflections

July 4, 2022

We had another horse show this weekend at Ellsworth for the Iowa Arabian Horse Association. It was a lot of fun, and Maleigha set some new goals for herself and did great. Jacob decided not to participate in this show as he is still gaining confidence with his horse and learning how to communicate with him. He did tag along to help wherever he could. I am so very proud of him and how helpful and kind he is to everyone. He spent all day Friday working to set everything up for those bringing in horses. He spent all day Saturday running to help tack horses up or change tack as needed as there were some quick changes. He spent Sunday helping with tacking horses again and then tearing down everything while the participants finished out the show. Often times those that work behind the scenes don’t get the same recognition as those in the spot light, but it truly takes everyone to make these shows happen.

The same can be said for Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics. No matter what your role is in the system, it is vital to the overall goal of taking great care of our patients. We had Governor Reynolds visit our Belmond Campus to see how the intern program is working as it was funded by the Future Ready Iowa Grant. She was very impressed with the interns and the array of departments that they were experiencing. It was fun to see the passion and excitement for healthcare careers from our intern group and listen to them share some of the experiences they have had so far. They did a great job representing our system, and we are grateful to each of you who are helping show them what a difference you can make by working in healthcare. Thank you for being role models and mentors as we grow the next generation of difference makers.
