We hosted Representative Feenstra this past week to highlight economic development in rural areas. Our teams did an amazing job of showcasing their areas and sharing the benefits for our patients. We highlighted our new partnership with Cancer Treatment Centers of America and were able to connect remotely to the team in Chicago and see what the patients will experience. We had Rachel Fletcher and Lisa Kunkel share all the ways we are covering mental health needs in our communities, and finally we shared the interactive whiteboards in the inpatient rooms. Huge thank you to everyone that helped prepare for this visit. It truly takes all of us working together to accomplish so much in such a short period of time.
Representative Feenstra shared that he has been working on his doctorate that is related to maternal health in rural areas. This is something that we are clearly passionate about in our system as well. One of the things that everyone shared in the tours is how proud we should be of all that we are doing to meet the needs of our patients. Although it can be easy to lose sight of that in the midst of this pandemic,c we should always take a moment at the beginning or end of our shift to embrace the pride in the work that we do. This week my challenge to you is to hold your head high and do the fierce walk of a healthcare superhero. You are my inspiration.
