Amy's Reflections

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” ― Charles Dickens

Happy Thanksgiving Week! We should all take time to stop and be thankful more in our lives. One of the things we like to do over supper is ask the kids to share one thing that happened during the day that was great or their favorite part of the day. I like to think it teaches them to find the good in each day. I know that on vacation they will often pick something that was a small part of their day and not the big thing that I had planned for them. I am always delighted by this and it helps me to remember that helping others and enjoying time together are some of our greatest blessings

The pie in the face was a great example of people coming together to help others. I had lots of people ask me at the party if I was nervous about having a pie in the face. My response, “it is for a good cause and I am happy to participate”. Holly, Dr. Hurt and Steve were great sports about it and we all had fun and raised money for the holiday hardship fund. I very much appreciate working for a system that cares about our team members and is able to help each other out. It makes my heart happy.

With all of the negative things going on in the world these days it is easy to lose sight of the positive things going on all around us. I challenge you to stop and reflect this week on all the wonderful things that happen around you and be truly THANKFUL! Challenge your family this Thanksgiving to share what they are most thankful for and then sit back and enjoy the blessings around you!

Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.” ― Ben Carson
