Amy's Reflections

April 14, 2016

A negative thinker sees a difficulty in every opportunity. A positive thinker sees an opportunity in every difficulty. - Unknown

It is officially Spring, and so far we have survived a time change, Easter, and the lovely Iowa Spring winds! I love this time of year as the grass starts to get nice and green and we start to look forward to new adventures.

Speaking of new adventures, we are closing in our go-live date with EPIC, and although I am sure there is much fear for the unknown, I am also sensing a lot of excitement for the potential improvements coming our way. I am pretty sure having gone through a conversion before we all realize that it isn’t going to be perfect. As we prepare for this change, just keep in mind that the only thing we can really control in life is our attitudes. Really think about that for a minute. The only thing you can control is your attitude in how you approach something and/or how you respond to something. Any of the leaders that have ever reported to me will tell you that one of my favorite phrases is “it will be fine”! I say this a lot, and certainly not because I have all of the answers, but because in the end it always seems to work out. There are definitely situations that challenge us but often something good comes as a result of the challenging times.

So, on May 21st you may see me walking around sporting a t-shirt with “It will be fine!” across the front of it. I will wear it confidently as I know what an amazing group of individuals we have working at Iowa Specialty Hospital, and I know in my heart that we can do anything if we all work together!

If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges. - Pat Riley
