Amy's Reflections

May 12, 2016

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. ~ Wayne Dyer

The month of May always makes me think of transitions, especially as we receive all the graduation invitations and we start to see the nice weather stay around. I think of the students preparing for graduation either from high school or college, and the excitement that it brings. These individuals are at an exhilarating point in their lives with unlimited opportunities, the fear of the unknown and the joy of the possibilities all mixed together. This excitement leads them bravely into the future. Wouldn’t it be nice for us to be able to bottle that feeling and use it along our life journey when we face new challenges?

I find it interesting that over time the excitement for new opportunities becomes less and the fear of the unknown becomes greater. Our life lessons shape us and sometimes teach us to approach things with fear instead of excitement. Interestingly enough the acronym for fear is false events appearing real.

I think it is very fitting that we will make a huge transition to a new computer system in the month of May.  A month of transitions! I encourage you all to think back to graduation and try to approach this transition with the excitement that you felt then for the unlimited possibilities, instead of the fear of the unknown.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. ~ John F. Kennedy
