Learn to Manage Your COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, makes breathing difficult for millions of Americans. The main cause of COPD is tobacco smoke, so if you smoke or used to smoke, you are at a higher risk of having COPD. Exposures to air pollutants like cigarette smoke or outdoor smog in the home or at work, family history, and respiratory infections like pneumonia also increase your risk.

If you experience shortness of breath, you should discuss it with your physician for a course of treatment. During National COPD Awareness Month, we’d like to remind you that we offer pulmonary rehabilitation. This personalized program teaches you how to manage your COPD symptoms to improve quality of life. Plans may include learning to breathe better, how to conserve your energy, and advice on food and exercise. Learn more with the link below.
