• Each year, the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program partners with local farmers to provide grants to local nonprofits.
• Sponsored by the Bayer Fund, the program provides farmers the opportunity to support and give back to nonprofit organizations they care about in their local communities by enrolling for a chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a nonprofit of their choice.
• Since 2010, the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program has given more than
$33 million to over 8,000 nonprofits across rural America.
County farmer, Kent Kirstein, directed $2,500 to Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics through America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Bayer Fund. As part of their mission, Iowa Specialty Hospital will use the funds to purchase equipment for its ambulance service.
“Thanks to this donation, we will purchase an EZ-IO Intraosseous Vascular Access System. There are greater than 500,000 adult occurrences of cardiac arrest yearly in the United States, with an estimated 10% survival rate. EMS staff needs the fastest method of establishing vascular access,” shared Brian Jensen, Paramedic and Ambulance Leader.
In cardiac arrest victims IV access may be difficult or impossible due to cardiovascular collapse and environmental changes. Vascular access can be achieved in less than 10 seconds, and success rates have been shown to be superior to that of IV access during cardiac arrest. In an emergent situation this is a very valuable tool to have.
Celebrating its 10th year, America’s Farmers Grow Communities partners with farmers to support nonprofit organizations strengthening rural communities. The program offers farmers the chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a nonprofit of their choice. It has awarded more than $33 million to over 8,000 nonprofits across rural America.
