Introducing a New Electronic Medical Record

April 22, 2016

Beginning May 21st, Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics will move to a new electronic medical record system that will connect them to the University of Iowa and other hospitals that use this system. This will help to provide improved care due to the increased access to patient health records across these facilities.

With this new system comes a new patient portal called MyChart®, which is a secure way for patients to view their medical records, see test results, request appointments online, and more. If you have questions, please refer to the “Frequently Asked Questions - Answered” below or call Amy McDaniel, Belmond CEO, at 641-444-5621.

Frequently Asked Questions - Answered

  1. MyChart® is a free service to patients.

  2. MyChart® is available to any patient age 12 or older.

  3. Following May 21st, registration staff will ask if patients are interested in registering for MyChart®.

  4. If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 18, you may request access to a child’s medical record. However, for children 12-17, this parental/guardian access is limited to immunizations.

  5. Due to the sensitive nature of medical information, spouses are required to establish their own MyChart® account.

Additional information about MyChart® will be provided at registration or upon registering for MyChart® online.
