Funds Received from Wright County Charitable Foundation

OB nurses with hover mattressThe Wright County Charitable Foundation recently contributed funds towards the purchase of a hover mattress for the OB department at Iowa Specialty Hospital – Clarion.

A hover mattress is used before and after every caesarian section.  This type of bed is a vital part of the surgical process as it is used to move a patient from their bed to the operating table and back again to their bed.  The mattress minimizes the stress on a patient’s skin from transfers and improves the ergonomics of moving patients which benefits staff.  As the number of annual births continues to grow at Iowa Specialty Hospital, the facility required an additional hover mattress to meet the increased need.

“We are so thankful to the Wright County Charitable Foundation for this amazing gift,” shared OB Leader, Jennifer Mewes. “Currently we have delivered 326 babies this year and only see that number continuing to increase!  This mattress allows the ISH Obstetrics department to continue to provide exceptional care to the mothers of this county and beyond.”
