ISH Employees Give to Local Food Charities

December 8, 2017

1200 pounds of groceries and supplies donated to local food charitiesDuring the month dedicated to giving thanks, Iowa Specialty Hospital wanted to show their appreciation for the communities in which they reside.  Employees recently participated in a food drive to support the Belmond Food Pantry and the Clarion Backpack Program. They also collected personal hygiene items for both the Belmond and Clarion schools. In total, 1,200 pounds of groceries and supplies were donated.

The Belmond Food Pantry is part of the Food Bank of Iowa.  Their overall mission is to provide food for Iowa children, families, and seniors to lead full and active lives.

The 2017-18 school year is the fourth year the Backpack Program is helping local families. The program has grown every year, currently providing food for 22 families. Since the start of the program they have seen overall better attendance, more family participation, and better performance from the children.

For more information on how to donate, or to be a potential recipient, please contact local churches for the Belmond Food Pantry, and contact Sherri O’Brien at 515-532-2210 for the Clarion Backpack Program.
