Hospital Purchases 'Vein Finder'

May 4, 2015

Vein finder in action.Iowa Specialty Hospital - Clarion’s Maternity Center recently purchased a new device called a Vein Finder. This device is used on infants or any other patients when staff have a hard time finding their veins to draw labs or start IVs.

“We are very fortunate to have received the funds to purchase this new device,” said Casey Howell, OB Leader. “We have already seen significant use and benefit from this new technology.”

The Vein Finder has decreased the number of pokes taken to start IVs and ensured faster treatment. Since the purchase of the Vein Finder in February, it has been used 88 documented times. The Vein Finder was purchased with the gracious donation from the Wright County Charitable Foundation.
