Iowa Specialty Hospital’s first baby of 2015, Ellie Ruth Mericle, was born on January 1, 2015 at 7:51 in the evening to parents Bryan and Halley Mericle of Fort Dodge. Baby Ellie weighed 6 pounds 7.1 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches in length. Dr. Michael Whitters was the delivering provider.
“This is what I secretly wanted to happen, to have Ellie be born on New Year’s Day, but I didn’t think it would actually happen!” said Mother Halley. Her original due date was January 4th.
Ellie will join her siblings: 15-year old, Maddy Prather, six-year old, Gage Mericle, and 20-month old, Charlie Mericle.
“We just love Dr. Whitters! He is such a great doctor,” said Halley. “And we love this hospital, which is why we drive so far. I feel like a princess when I am here.”
Father Bryan commented: “Yes, people here enjoy their jobs. You can just see it.”
Baby Ellie was the first baby to be born at Iowa Specialty Hospital in 2015. 264 babies were born at Iowa Specialty Hospital in 2014.
