On Sunday, June 18, 2017, Dr. Michael Whitters delivered the last baby of his medical career with the birth of Charles Jayy Harrah. Baby Charles, the son of Waylinn Rosenbaum and Joe Harrah, was born at 4:38 am, weighed 7 lbs 11.8 oz, and was 20” long.
“We just feel so blessed that we could have Dr. Whitters deliver our first child before he retires,” said Rosenbaum “…especially since he has been my family provider for well over half of my life. The whole pregnancy was amazing, and delivery would not have possibly been as perfect without Dr. Whitters. He is the man!”
Over the course of his 35 years in practice, Dr. Whitters has delivered at a minimum over 1600 babies.
“Though I don’t know the exact number of births, there are bound to be several that hold special memories. That said, each and every birth is special. It’s a new life, a new beginning, and you can’t help but wonder what lays in store for that child,” shared Whitters. “It’s been a privilege to be a part of so many births and to have provided care for so many of those same babies as they’ve grown up over the years.”
“We are truly going to miss Dr. Whitters,” commented Casey Howell, OB Leader. “His strong leadership has been instrumental in making our maternity center what it is today. I hope he feels that he will be leaving the system in good hands that have learned alongside of him.”
Michael Whitters, DO, will officially retire on June 30th. The public is invited to an open house that same afternoon at the Meadows Independent Living from 2 – 4 pm to join in the celebration.
