Alesha Holcombe - Daisy Award
Alesha Holcombe had a very complex patient who was very ill. Not only were her assessment skills spot on to catch changes in the patient’s condition early, she also kept the doctor apprised. When it was determined that the patient needed a higher level of care, Alesha managed to wade through an absolute mess with delays, conflicting orders, and having numerous ancillary staff voice opinions on best care for this patient. Through it all, she kept her patient informed and up-to-date. She used her resources to provide info. She was compassionate, caring, AND she advocated for what her patient wanted and needed. She wasn’t afraid to clarify the patient’s wishes so they could be relayed to the team. She balanced monitoring her respiratory status and her emotional status by trying to reach the patient's son. The whole situation was just a clustered mess, but Alesha kept her patient and her needs in the forefront of her mind. I wish I could give her 100 ISH Bucks - she really shined tonight. Alesha is one of those rare gems. We are so lucky to have her on our team!
