Program Details 

Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics (ISH) is proud to offer students the opportunity to intern at our facilities to discover the many careers available in the healthcare field.

The ISH Summer Intern Program focuses on exposing students to healthcare fields. This 6 week program will be held from June 12 - July 21, 2023.

For these paid and unpaid internships, students must be entering their junior year of high school or an active college student.

Summer interns must submit an application, a written reference letter and a parental consent for if under age 18 to Human Resources.

Interns will be interviewed by ISH staff members. Individuals who are selected will be required to follow the student expectations, dress code, and facility Standards of Behavior.

Program Goals

The summer internship program provides students with opportunities to: 

• Expand knowledge about healthcare career options 
• Provide professional development opportunities
• Build connections and relationships with ISH team members
• Consider future careers at Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics

Student Selection Requirements

• Must be 16 or older to apply
• Entering junior year of high school or an active college student
• Available to work Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Complete any required occupational health requirements
• We are required to mandate and track COVID -19 vaccinations. Consequently, employees who work in our facilities will be required to be vaccinated upon hire date. 

Student Expectations

• Attend mandatory onsite orientation
• Attend weekly onsite professional development training
• Follow proper dress code - see below
• Follow cell phone policy
• Follow Standards of Behavior
• Travel to locations based on availability of field interest

Dress Code

• Polo shirt provided by ISH
• Dark colored pants or khakis - no jeans or leggings
• Closed toed shoes
• Name badge issued by ISH
